Historians rip into The New York Times after it refuses to address requests for corrections to the ‘1619 Project’
23 Dec 2019 — #FakeNews
Historians expressed their dismay to the Daily Caller on Sunday after the New York Times refused to comply to their request for corrections involving the controversial “1619 Project.” The project has already been implemented in some public schools around the country.
Much has been made of the criticism of the #1619Project by 4 historians on the World Socialist Web Site. Those 4+1 more submitted a letter 2 my editors demanding corrections. We stand behind our reporting. Here’s their letter & @jakesilverstein’s response https://t.co/qV4X2cOpsS— Ida Bae Wells (@nhannahjones) December 20, 2019
This is such an insanely embarrassing tweet. The current critics of the 1619 project (Wood, McPherson etc) are the most accomplished historians in the country regarding these very subjects. https://t.co/5f1DSHwvDF— (((AG))) (@AG_Conservative) December 22, 2019
In some ways it’s actually good. This is an official statement by the NYT that they no longer consider facts relevant to their reporting. Falsehoods will no longer be corrected if they are in support of progressive ideology. Glad they put it on the record!— PEG (@pegobry) December 21, 2019
