The US military has not commented on the incident which took place Saturday night amid rising tensions in the region after Iranian General Qassem Soleimani was killed by a US drone strike.
Al-Saedi was a prominent commander of pro-Iran Shiite militia, the Karbala Brigades, a unit within the Popular Mobilization Forces umbrella group in Iraq.
This latest incident occurred during a dramatic turn of events in which Iran was forced to admit their responsibility in the downing of a Ukrainian passenger plane, resulting in large numbers of Iranians taking to the streets of Tehran in angry protest of their government.
