Democrats and journalists were excited Thursday when the Government Accountability Office (GAO) released a legal opinion that the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) had violated the Impoundment Control Act by withholding congressionally appropriated aid to Ukraine last summer.
According to Breitbart News, “The non-binding opinion was disputed by the OMB, which released a memo last month arguing that the ‘programmatic’ delay sought to fulfill, not oppose, congressional intent.”
Just like Pelosi, Schiff and the Dems in Congress, the GAO ignores that the President has been hugely concerned about corruption in Ukraine for a long time, which is entirely consistent with US law and US policy. It’s also important to get other nations to contribute more.— Lee Zeldin (@RepLeeZeldin) January 16, 2020
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, in a press conference on Thursday said the GAO report finding “reinforces again the need for documents and eyewitnesses in the Senate," continuing further, "The OMB, the White House, the administration broke— I'm saying this— broke the law ... This reinforces again the need for documents and eye-witnesses in the Senate.”
