A melee ensued when gun rights activist and social media personality Kaitlin Bennett arrived on the campus of Ohio University in Athens Monday as part of her ‘Liberty Hangout’ tour.
“This is what happens when a Trump supporter goes to a college campus. Leftists at Ohio University started a riot when Joel Patrick and I showed up, and the Ohio University Police let it happen. I think President Trump should strip funding from universities like this that harbor terrorists,” Bennett tweeted.

In May of 2018, photos of Bennett posing on Kent State's campus with an AR-10 rifle shortly after graduating went viral. Students at the university are not allowed to carry a firearm on campus, an issue the conservative activist fought to change as an undergraduate.
Social media posts from students who witnessed the events as they unfolded also emerged on Twitter that appeared to show the activist being extricated from the angry crowd by a member of her own security.
#PoopyPants @KaitMarieox didn't have a good time at OU today. Got picked up by her bodyguard and taken away in a hurry.— Nfinite Buchmn (@Buchmn) February 17, 2020
She probably had an emergency she had to take care of. 💩 pic.twitter.com/u4xoPx5mUo
Ohio University Police, whose presence can be seen in the videos, released a statement on Twitter Monday afternoon, saying in part that “the incident did not rise to the level of a riot” and that “the officers on duty had to prioritize their response to the events as they unfolded.”
See below for a few of Bennett's original Twitter posts that went viral back in 2018.
Now that I graduated from @KentState, I can finally arm myself on campus. I should have been able to do so as a student- especially since 4 unarmed students were shot and killed by the government on this campus. #CampusCarryNow pic.twitter.com/a91fQH44cq— Kaitlin Bennett (@KaitMarieox) May 13, 2018
Not only have I received a job offer tonight, but several young men have offered their hands in marriage to me. I'm sorry I have to decline. I have a boyfriend. pic.twitter.com/q7YX4oi2Pi— Kaitlin Bennett (@KaitMarieox) May 17, 2018
