Two Senate Republicans asked the Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell on Thursday for assistance in declassifying four redacted footnotes in the Justice Department watchdog’s report on Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act abuses.
H/T: Washington Examiner
Back in January, Sens. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, and Ron Johnson, R-Wisc. demanded in a letter that the Department of Justice order the declassification of four footnotes referenced in the IG report. The senators sent a second classified letter which was not made public.
The latest request comes after a Justice Department watchdog identified additional errors in the FBI's surveillance warrant application process after reviewing more than two dozen Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) applications.
Sure enough, new IG report shows at least 29 more potentially illegal FISA warrants! FBI is a disaster.... https://t.co/Ok3XgDzk9e— Tom Fitton (@TomFitton) April 3, 2020
FISA renewal should be stopped - period. It's abundantly clear that the @FBI abused the process long before the attempted coup against @realDonaldTrump - the DoJ and FBI cannot be trusted...https://t.co/vgfZwgKntj— Tony Shaffer (@T_S_P_O_O_K_Y) April 3, 2020
