Defense Secretary Mark Esper on Friday ordered National Guard troops in Washington, DC, to disarm and wear soft caps instead of helmets, an official told Breitbart News on Friday afternoon. The official said the president told Attorney General Bill Barr that he wanted the National Guard to be armed so that they could protect themselves from rioters and looters coming in to the city, but Esper on his own told the D.C. National Guard leadership to take the weapons of National Guardsmen who were coming in from other states.
“He’s not really on board with what the president is trying to do,” the official said.
The Washington Post also reported that Esper disarmed National Guardsmen activated in D.C.:
“Defense Secretary Mark T. Esper made the decision to disarm the guard without consulting the White House, after President Trump ordered a militarized show of force on the streets on the streets of Washington to quell demonstrations that were punctured by an episode of looting Sunday, two senior administration officials said. Trump had encouraged the National Guard to be armed.”

Someone forced Trump to change weekend plans and stay in DC this weekend.
Mayor Bowser demands national guard leave.

Odd set of coincidences, no? https://t.co/eJeCXkGkhj

Meanwhile, the United States Secret Service Special Operations Counter Sniper Team casually strolled through a crowd of protesters on their way to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute building a block north of White House. Watch below.

Not to be outdone by Esper, Democrat D.C. Mayor Muriel Bower decided the real threat to peace in her city is the Utah National Guard.
Just heard that Mayor Bowser is kicking the Utah National Guard out of all DC hotels tomorrow. More than 1200 troops from 10 states are being evicted. This is unacceptable. 1/2— Mike Lee (@SenMikeLee) June 5, 2020
There was chaos on Democrat Muriel Bower's watch before the National Guard arrived in DC.— Ronna McDaniel (@GOPChairwoman) June 5, 2020
Now she’s kicking them out of their hotel rooms.
She should be saying, “Thank you for your service!”
I will do everything possible to push back against this outrage against the men and women of our National Guard.— Lindsey Graham (@LindseyGrahamSC) June 5, 2020
They left their homes and businesses in Utah to protect homes and businesses in our nation’s Capital.
The Mayor of DC should thank them — not evict them!
Bowser asked POTUS to withdraw all “extraordinary federal law enforcement and military presence” from D.C., but it is unlikely he'll grant that request. Since there is no governor in D.C., the president has authority over National Guard forces in the city.https://t.co/nScUdOmFDc— Lisa Mei Crowley 🐸 (@LisaMei62) June 6, 2020
Take a good look DC. This is what your Mayor did to the National Guard members sent there! Made them get out of the hotels! She doesn't want you protected! Remember this, vote her OUT! https://t.co/j1H4qH6qok— SusanZgp™ (@SusanZgp) June 6, 2020
