Hundreds gathered on the Capitol steps Wednesday to call for a lifting of the state's coronavirus restrictions, calling them an infringement on freedom and overreach of the governor's authority. Organizers called the “Pennsylvania Assemble for Freedom” event a gathering “to call out the governor, and to demand to be set free from any and all restrictions and to return freedom of choice to ‘We the People.’”
“I haven’t worn a mask on my face a single time,” organizer Ernie Ney said, getting a huge round of applause. “If you want to wear a mask, wear a mask. If you don’t, don’t. Our biggest and most important freedom is choice.”
He added, “This isn’t about wearing masks or not wearing masks. This isn’t about social distancing or not. This is about choice. I challenge each of you to take it and run with it and live to be free.”
