Well that didn't take long. Woodward's apparent 'gotcha' moment which is now spreading in an interestingly coordinated fashion across the MSM has been out-bombshell'd by none other than Dr. Fauci (he who speaks science truth and is above reproach).
H/T: Zero Hedge
Fauci just went on Fox News and said that President Trump "did not distort anything and acted immediately when he was presented the data."
Dr. Fauci says that he never got the sense that President Trump was downplaying COVID-19:— Daily Caller (@DailyCaller) September 9, 2020
"I didn't get any sense that he was distorting anything. In my discussions with him, they were always straightforward about the concerns that we had." pic.twitter.com/2zQ4tMZY2I
Dr. Fauci disputes alleged quotes from him in Bob Woodward's story that President Trump is "unfocused in meetings" and that "his sole purpose is to get re-elected."— Daily Caller (@DailyCaller) September 9, 2020

CNN's 'gotcha' is this: Trump also admitted to Woodward in a follow-up interview on March 19 that he purposefully downplayed the virus in order to avoid panic.
“I wanted to always play it down,” Trump admitted to Woodward in a follow-up interview on March 19, adding “I still like playing it down, because I don't want to create a panic.”
CNN somehow overlooks Fauci, Pelosi and Biden downplaying the virus themselves - with the latter two calling Trump a xenophobe for his China travel restrictions.
Three days later, Trump announced restrictions on travel from China, a move suggested by his national security team -- despite Trump's later claims that he alone backed the travel limitations.
Nevertheless, Trump continued to publicly downplay the danger of the virus. February was a lost month. Woodward views this as a damning missed opportunity for Trump to reset "the leadership clock" after he was told this was a "once-in-a-lifetime health emergency."

Well. Dr. Fauci just went on Daily Briefing and basically shredded the Woodward narrative about POTUS “misleading” on COVID. Look at this exchange with John Roberts: pic.twitter.com/ZoIWKS4s28— Ben Williamson (@_WilliamsonBen) September 9, 2020
When Donald Trump was meeting with health experts to tackle the Chinese Coronavirus, CNN was busy criticizing the "lack of diversity" in the room— Charlie Kirk (@charliekirk11) September 9, 2020
I don't need Bob Woodward to tell me who took the virus seriously from the start and who didn't.
Apparently, Bob Woodward didn’t include this in his book. My interview with Fauci on March 23. Fauci: The response of Trump administration has been impressive. I can’t imagine anybody could be doing more.https://t.co/a7eNsvpJHb— Mark R. Levin (@marklevinshow) September 9, 2020
The President knew the virus was deadly, worked nonstop with scientists to end it, and reassured the American people so as to not create a panic.— Tim Young (@TimRunsHisMouth) September 9, 2020
I just translated today's #Trumpknew Woodward tape for people who dont suffer from Trump Derangenent Syndrome. You're welcome.
Dr. Fauci on the Woodward book:— Charlie Kirk (@charliekirk11) September 9, 2020
"I didn't see any discrepancies between what he told us and what we told him and what he came out publicly and said"
Why does the media blindly believe Fauci when they feel like it will hurt Trump yet ignore Fauci when it doesn't?
Notice how the media isn’t even remotely mad that Bob Woodward kept this “information” from the public for months.— Courtney Holland - Text COURTNEY to 88022 (@hollandcourtney) September 9, 2020
Tells you everything you need to know.
Yes, obviously. Only revision I'd note is that Woodward sells books, so expect, like his previous books, many more such forgettable "revelations" in days to come. https://t.co/uNOQAeSHhM— Mollie (@MZHemingway) September 9, 2020
